Iosif Iser
Iosif Iser (1881 – 1958), a Romanian painter of Jewish origin inspired by expressionism, painted with thick lines and sharp angles, using a color palette dominated by earthy tones. In his mature years, Iser's painting encompassed scenes of life in Dobruja, with portraits of local Tatar residents.
After traveling to Spain and the Orient, Iser adopted a luminous color scheme with an exotic tint, and his compositions gained balance and monumentality. Later on, he added to his collection a series of paintings depicting harlequins.
