Nicolae Grigorescu

Nicolae Grigorescu (May 15, 1838 – July 21, 1907) is the most well-known among the founders of modern Romanian painting, having become a symbol for generations of artists who, in the early decades of the 20th century, sought to identify and bring to light the defining values of Romanian spirituality.

In recent years, his paintings have been sold at art auctions for record sums, ranging between 150,000 and 270,000 Euros.
