Founder of an artistic movement renowned for its serious and concentrated color palette, as well as for its evocative power of objects and landscapes from his immediate surroundings, the painter Gheorghe Petrașcu (1872 - 1949) received numerous awards throughout his lifetime and was exhibited posthumously at the Venice Biennale and the International Exhibition in Paris.

His canvas paintings have been sold in galleries in Bucharest and London for prices ranging between 10,000 - 60,000 Euros.
